Supella longipalpa
Appearance
- 10 - 15 mm long.
- Yellow-brown in colour.
- Both sexes have wings but those of the male are longer.
- Runs (may fly at very high temperatures).
Lifecycle
- Females deposit the ootheca (egg case) containing 16 eggs a day after production.
- Ootheca are cemented down and widely scattered.
- Hatch in 1 – 2 months.
- Nymphs take 2 – 4 months to develop into adults.
Habits
- Heated buildings; very wide dispersal throughout.
- Nocturnal.
- Omnivorous.
